Welcome to Atascadero High School Continued

Message from the Principal
Whether you are coming to the high school for your first year, your last, or you are somewhere in between, welcome. I hope that you are eager for the opportunities that await you. This is a time in your life for you to create possibilities. I challenge you to bring all your effort, expectation and curiosity each day. This is a time for you to develop as a team member and a time for you to consider your personal goals. This is your time to ask questions, to explore your classes and to contemplate your future. I am honored to be your principal. Atascadero High School is an outstanding school within a superb community, and you will come to appreciate how special this is as you move through your life.

We believe in the ability of each of our students to demonstrate their knowledge and understanding through communication, collaboration, and with creativity and critical thinking. All these skills will prepare our students for real world success. We are a team whose goal is to see each of our students reach their potential.
Each member of our team; the school, parent/guardian, and the student, plays a role in this success. I feel confident in saying that each of us here at AHS will bring our A-game each day. We bring considerable experience and expertise to our profession, all in our effort to help our students fully grow and develop.

As a parent or guardian, your role in supporting your child’s endeavors can’t be overstated. Sometimes students have the fixed mindset that they are a failure if the work isn’t easy. Although failure may be part of the journey, it is not the destination. The thrill of achievement is especially sweet when one overcomes difficulty along the way. This is your opportunity to guide your child as they navigate the failures and successes they will undoubtedly experience. Please remember that your student’s teachers, counselors and the staff here at AHS are available to you, and I hope you feel comfortable reaching out to us.
This packet will provide you with important information necessary to begin the school year, including forms to complete, sign, and return. Aeries is our online student information system which allows parents and students to view grades and attendance. Aeries also allows teachers to directly communicate information to you regarding your child’s progress. Many of you are familiar with this system and are encouraged to continue using it. New users can follow the directions included in this packet to sign up.

As the 2018/2019 school year begins, please remember that you are empowered to choose your attitude and your effort, and the choices you make will influence your future. Again, Welcome to Atascadero High School…GO HOUNDS!
